Cyberchem offers two forms of Asbestos Encapsulation products.

MX-90 L Asbestos Encapsulator is a water soluble, environmentally friendly bridging encapsulant for Asbestos. MX-90 S Asbestos Encapsulator will bind friable asbestos and contain and stabilise any loose fibers.

MX-90 S Asbestos Encapsulator is a water soluble, environmentally friendly bridging & penetrating encapsulant for Asbestos. MX-90 S Asbestos Encapsulator will penetrate and bind friable asbestos and contain and stabilise any loose fibers. MX-90 S Asbestos Encapsulator offers longer term protection and encapsulates the Asbestos in a Silicate Matrix.

MX-90 S Asbestos Encapsulator is also widely used in the encapsulation of natural forms of Asbestos such as crocidolite and chrysotile.

Applications

Considerable efforts are being made to remove ACMs (Asbestos Containing Materials) from the environment. Most asbestos is contained in bonded form and when in good condition, does not pose a significant risk of releasing airborne fibres.

However, the effects of age and weathering on exposed asbestos materials can cause degradation of the material and leave it in a potentially friable state. In this state the ACMs need to be removed for safe disposal. Handling the ACMs during the removal process poses a serious risk to workers health, so it is important that the correct products and procedures are utilised to stabilise and encapsulate the loose fibres, to ensure the workers safety.

Encapsulation or sealing of the ACMs involves coating the material with a protective coating that is either a bridging (surface) or a penetrative covering to encapsulate the asbestos fibres and prevent loose fibres from becoming airborne.
